Let’s face it; relationships are tough and confusing. When you are in a relationship that is unhealthy for you, there are questions you often ask yourself. Such as, How can I be better? Why is this so difficult? What can I do?
But when you’re in a relationship that gets confusing, you can often make a few mistakes along the way.
In emotionally abusive relationships, over time, our thoughts and feelings become”guided” or “suggested” by others.
Because we question our own feelings. In the confusion, we believe if we act and do right for them, they are going to start acting more like us, and the relationship will feel much better.
We believe others’ words, and it is no different here. They made promises in the past, and we hold on with the hope that they will someday follow through. Through this hope, we accept, put up with, and adapt longing for the day that the relationship feels safe.
We would never understand why these are mistakes until we can understand them as a person. Understanding them is where the confusion becomes clear.
